Tai Chi

Tai chi is a gentle and beneficial way to exercise. It has and still is being widely practiced in China and other Asian countries. You will be introduced to a range of breathing exercises to help balance your mind and improve your focus. We do Chinese yogic stretches (known as Kaimen) to work on all parts of the body, followed by the Lee style form which is a gentle meditative flow.

Regular practice can help you cope with stress and manage other medical conditions as tai chi is a way to connect together all your body energy systems so that you feel more balanced, energised, stronger and calmer. This all helps to deal with life’s stresses and other medical conditions.

To gain maximum benefit and comfort from the practice;

  • It is best to wear loose comfortable clothes so you can easily move and stretch.
  • Footwear should be flat, with little or no heel.
  • Bring a mat or blanket as we do some floor work (the clinic floor can be cold!) and we also often do some meditation. If you can’t sit on the floor, we can do adaptations so you can sit on a chair if you prefer or stand.
  • Classes are 1 hour

    We work through the form step by step, working to the class level, and repeat it so you can learn it for yourself to enable you to take it away for your own practice.
