Cosmetic or Facial Enhancement Acupuncture

You may have seen this featured on one of the episodes of the Channel 4 TV series “10 Years Younger” and “How not to get Old”.   Cosmetic or facial enhancement acupuncture involves using very fine and small needles on acupuncture facial points and muscles on the face and neck to help stimulate collagen and encourage the skin’s own elastic production.  It has been used for many thousands of years in Chinese Medicine and is now becoming more popular in the West. It is a natural alternative to using Botox® as it is a totally natural and holistic anti-ageing treatment.

As part of the treatment, body points are also treated to improve the patient’s general health and wellbeing.   After a course of treatments as well as looking more radiant you will also start to feel more balanced, well and happy in yourself.

Skin looks fresher due to the improved circulation.  Treatments involve working on lifting the face particularly around the ’jowls’ as well as targeting wrinkles and facial lines.  It can take between 3-6 treatments to start to notice a more lasting change.  A course of 10 treatments is recommended.

Medic8cosmaceuticals are used as part of the treatment which are natural skin care products, suitable for sensitive skin.

Studies published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in 1996 showed that of 300 people who received Facial Acupuncture, 90% demonstrated marked results after only their first treatment.

“This is a viable alternative to cosmetic surgery and the effects can run much deeper than simply improving appearances."

It can enhance your own natural beauty without side effects.

After learning the basics of cosmetic acupuncture during my training I have taken further masterclass training with Dr Paul Adkins founder of Facial Enhancement Acupuncture.

First Treatment/Consultation

This will be a consultation to talk through your medical history and expectations of the treatment.  This will be followed by a full body organ system tonification before doing the facial acupuncture. This helps clear the body and gives it a boost which will enhance the facial work.  First treatment is likely to take up to 2 hours.

Follow on treatments will involve using body needles as well as the facial treatment.  You should allow 1 ½ hours for each treatment.  Body needling enhances the facial work and continues the effects of the initial tonification treatment, thus balancing you internally as well as revitalizing you externally.

How Many Treatments?

One treatment can leave you looking revitalised and improve your skin appearance but for a more lasting effect we recommend you consider a full course of 10 treatments.

Full Treatment Course

It can take between 3-6 treatments to start to notice a more lasting change, a course of 10 treatments is recommended for optimum results.  The first treatment includes a full organ system tonification as well as the facial acupuncture. This will enhance the effects of the facial acupuncture as the body releases built up toxins. Treatments should be weekly initially, with longer gaps towards the end of the course.   This is followed with a regular maintenance treatment.

Medic8cosmaceuticals are used as part of the treatment which are natural skin care products, suitable for sensitive skin.

If you are pregnant, breast feeding, having fertility treatment, have cancer, chronic migraines, or uncontrolled high blood pressure or diabetes, have got a bad cold or flu, or have a pacemaker fitted, or are prone to excessive bleeding or bruising these treatments are unsuitable for you.

The therapist should be advised if you have recently had any invasive cosmetic treatments recently such as microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, surgical face lift or had Botox® treatments.   There should be at least a 3 month gap before having acupuncture treatment.
